DEADLINE to REGISTER: APRIL 14 - Registration will open in the fall!


The Fine Arts Portfolio Review is focused on individualized 20-minute student portfolio reviews with juniors, seniors and graduate students that emphasize feedback on students’ work and presentation skills while providing insights for reviewers on RISD talent that may be of interest in consideration of future opportunities.


Cocktail Reception: Join us for the Cocktail Reception for reviewers following the Fine Arts Portfolio Review! We appreciate your time and commitment to meeting with students and hope you’ll have a bite to eat and drink before heading home. You’ll have the chance to meet and network with other reviewers, academic department heads, faculty and RISD senior leadership.



Who Should Attend

Gallery directors/owners, curators, residency directors, grant officers, arts program managers and other fine art professionals are welcome to attend.


We encourage organizations to have 1-3 reviewers in attendance to offer multiple points of view on the student’s portfolio and respond to their questions.


If you have RISD alumni that work with you, we hope they will attend! Alumnioffer unique insights to students on how they can translate RISD studio work into a strong portfolio in application for your opportunities.



What to Expect Before You Arrive
Wednesday - Thursday, April 19-20: Student Sign-up for Portfolio Review Timeslots

Students will sign-up for individual portfolio review time slots on April 19th and 20th.  The sign-up process closes at midnight on April 20th.


If an organization has a last minute cancellation and the Career Center has been notified, we will alert the students on your schedule of the cancellation.


The Career Center will send the resumes of the students on the cancelled schedule to the organization for their consideration.


Friday, April 21: Portfolio Review Schedules

The Career Center will email the schedule of students who have signed up for 20 minute portfolio reviews to the organization on April 21st.


The schedule will include the students' name, major, year of graduation and their resumes.


Please note: The Career Center does not provide copies of student resumes the day of the Fine Arts Portfolio Review.  Students are encouraged to bring copies of their resumes to leave with those they meet with.


Friday, April 21: Resume Packets

Students who were interested in meeting with an organization and could not sign-up on their schedule because it was full will be encouraged to electronically drop their resume for the organization.


The Career Center will email these resumes to the organization on April 21st.



What to Bring


Suggested Checklist for Organizations:


  • Business cards to leave with students if you’d like to share your contact information for follow-up.

  • A fully-charged laptop, iPad or tablet to show your organization website and/or work and projects. There are limited electrical outlets at the Convention Center and it may not be possible to easily charge your device.

  • Collateral materials: brochures, post cards, etc. to offer to students.

What to Expect at the Fine Arts Portfolio Review


Arrival and Check-in – 10:00 am:

The Fine Arts Portfolio Review begins with the first portfolio reviews at 12:00 noon. You may arrive any time after 10:00 am. Please plan to arrive early enough to get settled beofre your first portfolio review.


Lunch will be provided starting at 11:00 am. Reviewers who arrive early will have a great opportunty to meet and network with each other! Coffee, tea, snacks and lunch will be provided throughout the day.


When you arrive, please stop at the Organization check-in table. We will direct you to your space in the ballroom and provide any last minute updates and instructions.


A printed schedule of your student portfolio review appointments will be at your table. This schedule will also be sent to you in advance for your reference. We are unable to provide printed copies of student resumes, but these will also be emailed to you in advance.


Portfolio reviews will begin promptly at 12 noon and conclude by 5:00 pm. Each review will last for 20 minutes.


There is one scheduled 20-minute break at 2:20 pm for your convenience.


Only students with portfolio reviews are permitted to be in the ballroom.



Student Waiting Area

If you have students who miss a scheduled appointment and/or have an opening in your schedule, we encourage you to take advantage of arranging on-the-spot portfolio reviews with students you can select from the designated student waiting area throughout the day.

We hope you’ll be able to stay for a bite to eat and drink as our thanks for your time and commitment to meeting with students. You’ll have the chance to meet and network with other reviewers, academic department heads, faculty and senior RISD leadership.
